Edugent ("we", "our", or "us"), developed by Rhinotech, is a school management platform. We are committed to protecting the privacy of students, parents, teachers, and school administrators.
1. Information We Collect

Personal Information: Phone numbers (for OTP authentication), names, and roles provided by your educational institution.

Academic & Financial Data: Attendance records, grades, fee payment history, and school notices.

Biometric Data (Face AI): For institutes using AI Attendance, we process facial images to create a unique mathematical "digital signature." We do not store raw photos of faces on our servers; we only store the encrypted digital signatures used for identity verification.

Location Data:

For Drivers: We collect precise location data to enable real-time bus tracking for parents. This data is collected even when the app is closed or not in use (background location) while a trip is active.

For Teachers: We access location data only during "Check-in/Check-out" to verify the user is within the school's authorized geofence.
2. How We Use Your Information

School Administration: To facilitate digital attendance, fee management, and academic reporting.
•
Safety & Logistics: To provide live bus tracking and automated arrival alerts to parents.
•
Communication: To send push notifications via Firebase (FCM) regarding school updates.
•
Verification: To ensure only authorized staff can mark attendance within campus boundaries.
3. Permissions & Prominent Disclosures
Edugent requests the following sensitive permissions:

Location (Background): Used exclusively for the "Bus Tracking" feature. Drivers are notified when tracking is active via a persistent notification.

Camera: Used for capturing homework photos and for the "Face AI" attendance scanner.
•
Files & Media: Used to allow users to upload or download school reports and study materials.
4. Data Sharing & Security

No Third-Party Selling: We never sell or rent your personal or biometric data to third parties or advertisers.

Encryption: All data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore) and is encrypted during transit via SSL/TLS.

Access Control: Data is only accessible to authorized personnel within your specific educational institute.
5. Data Retention & Deletion

Retainment: We keep data as long as your account is active or as required by your educational institute.
•
Deletion: Users can request the deletion of their profile and associated biometric signatures by contacting their school administrator or emailing support@rhinotech.com.
6. Children’s Privacy
Edugent complies with educational privacy standards. Student data is uploaded and managed by authorized school staff or parents. We do not allow students to create independent accounts without institutional oversight.
